If you are improving your reading, writing and numeracy skills you are invited to:
NALA’s Regional Student Forums. NALA is an independent, membership organisation committed to making sure people with literacy difficulties can fully take part in society and access learning opportunities that meet their needs. NALA has put together the www.literacytools.ie website. We are interested in hearing about your views and experiences.
The Regional Student Forums will give you a chance to:
· Meet other adult literacy students
· Hear what is happening in the region
· Hear from the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) about what is happening at a national level in literacy
· Have a voice in NALA by sharing your views and experiences.
4 regional student meetings or forums will take place in 2007. Each Forum is on a Saturday and starts at 10.30am and finishes at 4pm. You do not have to prepare anything beforehand but you do need to book (telephone 01 8554332). NALA covers the cost of tea/coffee and lunch. Here are the dates and venues:
Killarney - Saturday 28th April 2007 - Killarney Plaza Hotel
Dublin - Saturday 12th May 2007 - Sheldon Park Hotel
Letterkenny - Saturday 19th May 2007 - venue to be confirmed
Tullamore - Saturday 26th May 2007 - Bridge House Hotel.
What students said about the Forums in 2006:
“Well worth giving up a day's wages for.”
“Coming here makes me feel better about not being able to read or write well. I would like to be able to come to another one.”
NALA has been organizing Regional Students' Forums since 2002. If you would like to read about what students who attended in 2006 raised, you can look at the Report on the Regional Student Forums in 2006 at the following link: http://www.nala.ie/publications/listing/20061207101158.html
